Boston Leather offers 34 custom designed holders for Motorola, Vertex Standard, Kenwood, Harris, EF Johnson, Icom, and Bendix King two-way radios. The compatibility chart below will help find the case designed to fit your radio.
There are also 7 universal cases that adjust to fit almost any model radio. All Boston Leather cases are manufactured Sterling, Illinois and ship in about 2 weeks if not in stock. The “RC” letters indicate large D rings for attaching to firefighter straps. Case numbers without “RC” are designed to be worn on a belt and don’t have D rings.
Holders manufactured with high quality plain leather finish include a (-1) suffix following the model number. High gloss (clarino) finish is available for some holders and has a (-2) indicator. Basketweave finish is also available and has a -3 suffix. The universal 5487RC-5, 5487RC-5, and 5610RC-5 can be ordered in ballistic weave nylon.
Contact us to discuss your specific needs if not listed. Boston Leather will design a custom leather holder for any 2-way radio or device carried by firefighters, ems professionals, police, and law enforcement.
Motorola Solutions recently introduced an adapter for remote microphones and Boston Leather fireman straps with clips. Designed for Motorola APX Series P25 public-safety two-way radios, the adapter assembly works with NNTN8575 XE remote microphones . This accessory has a ring loop attached to the top of the clip for hanging on hooks or the antenna.
You will need the NNTN8271 adapter that replaces the remote microphone clip. Also required is a button clip that snaps to the adapter. Motorola sells the buttons in packs of five (NNTN8749) but we will provide them in a single pack too (MAG-NNTN8749).
The Boston Leather 6542 straps with microphone clips are popular with firefighters and ems personnel. The clip provides a more secure attachment for the larger microphones. They are available in extra-large (6542XL) for tall individuals over 74 inches and also with reflective safety tape (6542R).
Batteries, Chargers, and Programming Kit Prices Change 10/12/15
Motorola informed us there will be a significant price increase for Minitor VI accessories next month. Now is a good time to purchase a RLN6527 Minitor VI programming kit. There is a $50 price increase on orders placed after 10/9/15.
With the introduction of the Motorola Solutions Minitor VI fire pager, you now have the choice between a UL certified intrinsically-safe model or one that does not have the certification.
Intrinsically-safe electronic equipment can be used in hazardous atmospheres with dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or dust. Non-intrinsically-safe electronic devices could cause an explosion by creating a spark or excessive heat.
Should I Order an Intrinsically-Safe Minitor VI?
Unless your fire department has a formal intrinsic safety program, you probably should save the $50 and buy the non-intrinsically-safe model. Another way to determine if you need IS is to check your radio for the FM Certification label. If your radio is not IS then your Minitor VI should not need the certification.
Motorola lowband, VHF, and UHF amplified chargers for the Minitor V can no longer be ordered after 3/31/15. An intent-to-cancel notice for the RLN5704, RLN5705, and RLN5706 was announced this week. The only Motorola charger available for the Minitor V will be the RLN5703 standard charger.
It’s time to upgrade to the Minitor VI that includes stored voice capability and a 2 year standard warranty.

Motorola Solutions introduced a new thin remote speaker microphone designed for law enforcement, transit police, and ems personnel. The new IMPRES XP RSM uses dual microphone noise suppression technology like the XE RSM designed for firefighters. It is expected to start shipping in September.
Two Styles – IP68 Submersible or IP55 with 3.5mm Threaded Jack
The NMN6271 model has a Delta T submersible IP68 rating allowing it to survive under 2 meters of water for two hours. This microphone can be scrubbed with soap and water if needed.
Or…choose the NMN6274 with a IP55 rating that can handle a heavy rain storm but includes a 3.5mm threaded jack.
Both models include an orange emergency button, volume toggle, and one programmable button.
There are also 2 models on the roadmap for the Motorola XTS 5000, XTS 2500, and XTS 1500 due for release later this year.
The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 is the thinnest and lightest 7 inch fully-rugged Windows tablet available public-safety agencies. Designed for mission critical operations, it is rated IP65 for dust/water resistance and will survive a 5 ft drop test. The bright display can be read outside in bright sunlight. The LTE 4G models are now available to order.
New Minitor VI Designed for Firefighters, EMS, and On-Call First Responders
Motorola Solutions released their sixth Minitor fire pager since first introduced back in 1975. The new Minitor VI has a sleeker form factor with programmable buttons, 1 or 5 channel capability, and improved IP56 water resistance. It can also be ordered without Intrinsically-safe operation and alkaline batteries.
All models have 16 minutes of voice storage capability and the standard warranty is now 2 years. The charger has a USB connector so it can be charged from the wall or computer port.

The new design requires new programming software, chargers, and accessories.
